SOON THE TECHNOPARK OF ANNABA The Technopark is located in the commune of Sidi Amar, 11 Km far from the county town o f the wilaya (department) of ANNABA, 2.5 km far from the centres of EL HADJAR and at 8 km from the airport of ANNABA in th The Technopark is delimited from : North: by the access road to the commune of Sidi Amar and by individual houses area; South: by unbuilt ground reserved for the extension of the Sciences University and a district road; East:by railway and the main road No 16; West: by the access road to the commune of Sidi Amar and individual houses area. Expected accesses: a slip road from the main road 16 from the west side. MAP OF THE SITE OF SIDI AMAR WITH ACCESSES (STRONG POINTS) The Technopark of ANNABA has a key role to play in its region, in the beginning: will provide ICT services for siderurgy and metallurgy businesses; will regroup the disparate and fragmented elements of the ICT sector, in the eastern region, and will create a collaboration between them; will serve as a platform for region’s ICT community and as a catalyst for the introduction of ICT goods and services in the regional economy and industry.This introduction will enable the spread of computing tools in the siderurgy and metallurgy clusters and why not of hydrocarbons creating by the way new technology jobs at the service of these sectors. It will operate in close collaboration with Algiers Cyberpark. On the other hand, Annaba Technopark will focus on the development of three critical elements : Critical mass It is important that the Technopark of Annaba attracts a critical mass of ICT local and foreign operators. The geographical concentration of interdependent ICT companies and institutions results in diffusion of knowledge which is a conclusive element for the individual competitiveness of companies. Collaboration The collaboration is of high importance to develop the capacity of the regional ICT sector. At present, ICT sector at national level is made of some large companies, the overwhelming majority of the rest of operators are service providers or very small sized companies. There is little collaboration between these companies and few relations with specialised service providers such as financiers, researchers and teachers. For want of collaboration, it is slightly probable that one of the operators may develop his internal capacity at the extent that he can launch new and larger projects and particularity to go up in the value chain. However thanks to collaboration, the ICT local companies can increase their knowledge, acquire a stronger experience and create new business relations and provide more competitive ICT products and services. Innovation Innovation is the key driver of the growth and competitiveness of this sector. It is the most important element to develop a dynamic and strong sector, able to maintain and develop its market portion and to be competitive worldwide. Without innovation, Algeria cannot provide ICT products and will only be a consumer country. This will deprive it of creating a true ICT sector. Consequently, the Technopark of Annaba has to play a leading role to foster innovation in a well specified sector. However, if the gathering of these operators is important, it is insufficient nevertheless . The managers of the Technopark have to imagine initiatives to foster consulting, interaction and collaboration among these researchers, operators and investors.
