2010MIECF -The Green Gateway will bring together a global gathering of leading players, advocates and supporters, gurus of the environmental conservation movement and green industry. As in previous editions of MIECF, it is hosted by the Government of Macao SAR. The provincial and regional governments in Pan-Pearl River Delta Region will be re-invited to be the co-organizers and The National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China and Ministry of Environment and Protection of the People’s Republic of China will be re-invited to be the Special Supporting Organizations for 2010MIECF.

2010MIECF institutionalizes the Green Gateway for a more effective engagement of green resources in the growing markets of the 9+2 provinces/regions of Southern China. In line with the global drive for climate change management, this event represents an important exchange platform for Green Knowledge and Technology Transfer, as well as Green Finance.

MIECF is an important annual forum-led event, accompanied by a green exhibition platform, which spearheads and promotes greater local and international co-operation in the sharing of the latest green technologies and eco-solutions for critical environmental issues. 2010MIECF's Green Gateway Forum will center on climate change and green economy, with special emphasis on the imperative of integrating economic, environmental and social considerations.

A global pool of panelists comprising of prominent environmental experts, green thinkers and gurus will join Chinese leaders from the 9+2 provinces /regions to debate on eco-solutions and to carry out scientific exchange for implementing the new green agenda.

The Confirmed 2010MIECF Forum Strands:

Strand 1: Low-Carbon Building and Eco City

Offers a broad and integrated platform for industry interaction and technology exchange. Green building, sustainable infrastructure and low-carbon constitute the biggest magnet of industry conversion towards the green economy. This strand will focus on the impacts of our current cities, what policies, plans and actions need to be put into place and how people must be a part of the solution rather than part of the problem

High profile think-tank presentations on issues of global concern, as well as that of direct concern to china’s future. Including urbanization, rubanization and urban ecology, green and intelligent buildings: natural carbon technologies and footprint technologies

Strand 2: Clean Technology and Circular Economy

Offers renewed priorities for international cooperation and industry synergy on promotion of green economy and conversion towards clean industries, in particular interaction between China and EU. This strand will focus on the huge benefits of the Circular Economy approach to resource-use efficiency, which integrates cleaner production and industrial ecology. Highlighting a series of successful CDM projects underway from Southern region of PPRD, that China is giving priorities to clean development mechanism projects.

Presentations include successful CDM projects, EU-China partnership and CDM facilitation project. Role, practical and systematic approach to interaction, technology transfer and synergy between all economic sectors in achieving the circular economy

Brand networking, matching and facilitation platforms will aid industry players big and small, particularly from China and the EU, and boost the capability of local and foreign companies to initiate and kick-start synergistic projects in smart green partnerships.

Keeping within the spirit of a Global Green Gathering, MIECF participants joined the Green Gala organized in the 2009MIECF programme and used these opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and establish new ones.

Participation in the networking events represented an encouraging message for Macao to shift to the Green Economy and Macao’s determination to emerge as the Green Dot.

During 2009MIECF, the concurrent events were well received and attended by more than 1,751 participants.
